A quieter task tray, and nothing lost when you clear a row
The tray light now stays dark unless something actually needs you, and clearing a finished task no longer hides it from your full task history.
Highlights
- · Clearing a finished task no longer hides it from your full task history. The task itself always ran fine, but its record could get hard to find afterwards.
- · The tray light used to be on whenever the tray icon was, so it stopped telling you anything. Now it stays dark when you are caught up, pulses while something is running, and shows a count of what is waiting.
- · A backup we could not confirm no longer lights up red. The row already said Unconfirmed, and now the light agrees with it.
- · Failures from before you last restarted SpawnBox are counted again in the tray.
- · The icons and buttons in the top right of the title bar are properly aligned and evenly spaced.
This is a small one. Last release we fixed a few places where the app was telling you something untrue; this release is mostly about the little status light on the task tray, which had quietly stopped being useful. None of this was broken for everyone, and none of it put your worlds or backups at risk.
Clearing a finished task keeps it in your history
If a task finished while the app was open and you cleared it from the tray, it could also disappear from Show all - the full list you go to when you want to answer “did last night’s backup actually run?”.
To be clear about what was and was not happening: the task itself ran perfectly fine. Backups completed, imports finished. It was only the record of it that became hard to find, and only if you cleared the row before the app next refreshed its history. Now every finished task is written to your history as soon as it lands, so clearing a row only tidies your tray.
The tray light only speaks up when something needs you
The little light on the task icon used to be on whenever the icon was - including when you had already read everything. A light that never goes out is not telling you anything, and after a while you stop looking at it.
It now has actual modes:
- Nothing waiting, nothing running - no light at all. The icon stays put so your history is always one click away, but it is not pretending there is news.
- Something running - it gently pulses.
- Things waiting for you - it shows how many, coloured by what they are.
”We could not confirm” no longer looks like a failure
Last release we changed the row itself to say Unconfirmed rather than Failed for a backup we lost track of, because it very likely did finish and saying otherwise was not honest.
The light did not get the message and stayed red. It is now amber, matching the row. A thing we are unsure about should look like a thing we are unsure about, not an emergency.
Failures from before a restart are counted again
If something failed, and you then restarted SpawnBox, that failure stopped being counted in the tray’s total. It was still there in your history and still visible in the list, but the number beside the icon had quietly forgotten about it. It counts again.
The icons in the top right of the title bar are properly aligned
Everything in that top right cluster - the sign-in button, the icons beside it, and the window controls - was pinned to the top edge of the bar rather than sitting centred in it. The sign-in button took the blame because it is a filled button next to transparent ones, so sitting high made it look oversized. The whole group is now properly centred, with even spacing between each item instead of them running together.
