Releases
Every version of SpawnBox, what changed, and what to watch out for.
Minecraft 26.3 is now available when you create a server
Also: closing the window while a server starts no longer leaves it stuck, and a new Test my router check.
- · Minecraft 26.3: you can now create 26.3 servers on Vanilla, Fabric, Quilt and Forge. Play sessions, joins, deaths and advancements are recorded on 26.3 the same as on earlier versions. Paper, Spigot and Purpur get 26.3 once Paper releases a stable 26.3 build.
- · Starting a server: if you closed the SpawnBox window while a server was starting, or right after using Apply Now for memory, the server could end up stopped or stuck with Start greyed out. It now finishes starting on its own, window or not.
- · Letting friends join: a new Test my router check tells you whether SpawnBox can open ports on your router for you, and the Open my router automatically switch says what we know instead of just going grey.
Stop no longer kills a busy server without saving your world
Also fixed: servers made from a backup showing "Needs Cleanup", and the Add a Server screen appearing when your servers were fine.
- · Stop: if your server was lagging or busy, Stop could shut it down instantly without saving, and then tell you it never finished starting. It now stops properly and gives your world up to a minute to finish saving on the way out.
- · Create Server from Backup: since 1.3.1, a server made this way came up marked "Needs Cleanup", and the only button offered would delete it. It now finishes setting up and runs like any other server.
- · Server tabs: when we could not read your servers, we concluded you had none and showed you the "Add a Server" screen you get on a fresh install. Your servers were fine the whole time, and we now say we cannot reach them instead.
Stop no longer kills a busy server without saving your world
Also fixed: servers made from a backup showing "Needs Cleanup", and the Add a Server screen appearing when your servers were fine.
- · Reopening SpawnBox: in 1.5.3, if you used Quit SpawnBox from the tray icon and then opened SpawnBox again, it could sit on "Starting background service..." until you restarted your PC. Reopening now starts everything up again on its own.
New servers that start the first time, datapack folder fixes, and a lighter background service
A server you create but do not start now starts normally, the Files tab shows where datapacks really go, and the background service runs lighter.
- · Creating a server: since 1.5.0, a server you created without starting it could say we had lost track of it and would not let you press Start. It now shows as stopped and starts normally.
- · Files tab: the Files & Folders guide now shows datapacks going in each world's own datapacks folder, which is where Minecraft reads them.
- · Importing a server: the datapacks checkbox is gone. Your datapacks always came along with the world; the checkbox only made an extra copy nothing used.
Server cards that stay startable after your servers have been off for a while
Fixes server cards that said we had lost track of your server, with Start greyed out, after none of your servers had been running for a while.
- · Server cards: since 1.5.0, if none of your servers had been running for a while, every card could say we had lost track of your server and keep Start greyed out. A stopped server now shows as stopped, and Start works.
Server controls that wait for a booting server, a PC that stays awake, and account page fixes
Stop and Restart now wait for a booting server, your PC stays awake while you host, the Easy Address stops clipping, and account pages name your real dates.
- · Server controls: pressing Stop or Restart while a server is still starting up now waits for it to finish coming up instead of killing it mid-start, and the button tells you that is what it is doing.
- · Console: after you stop a server, the console keeps the shutdown lines you just watched instead of replacing them with an older snapshot; and on Paper servers with the SpawnBox Telemetry Plugin, the Hide background noise switch now also hides our plugin's own check-in chatter.
- · Restart when empty: arming it on a server that is already empty now restarts on the next check, instead of sitting there waiting out the whole empty-server grace period.
Account area redesign, history pages that explain plan limits, Easy Address fixes
Redesigned account and plan pages, history screens that explain plan limits, Easy Address toggle fixes, and setup downloads that tolerate slow connections.
- · Account portal: plans now sit side by side, annual and Season Pass options show their real savings, and a failed payment is clearly flagged instead of looking like a healthy subscription.
- · Plan changes: upgrading, downgrading, and coming back after cancelling now all work - several of those paths previously led to the wrong page or a dead end.
- · History pages: when Activity, Sessions, or the Map is empty because your plan keeps a shorter history window, the page now says so and names the window - it no longer looks like your data disappeared.
The Install button works again
Updating from inside SpawnBox has quietly done nothing since v1.3.1. This release fixes it, and here is the one trick to get this update installed.
- · The Install button in Settings has done nothing since v1.3.1 - the confirmation was opening behind the settings window, where nobody could see or click it. It works again.
- · If your PC's local IP address changed, SpawnBox could lock itself out of the port forward it had already set up on your router, and your friends would stop being able to connect. It now reclaims its own forward instead of giving up.
- · Build Diagnostic Package recently started re-opening your previous report instead of starting a new one. Every click gets you a fresh report again.
SpawnBox Plus is here
A new $5 plan with a permanent server address and a public web scoreboard, a fresh coat of paint for every plan, and a big round of fixes.
- · New: SpawnBox Plus at $5/month or $50/year - a permanent address for your server and a scoreboard you can publish to the web
- · Plans are now color-coded like item rarity: Free is white, Plus is green, Pro is blue - the same color everywhere
- · Your account page shows every plan side by side, and everyone who has ever paid can reach their receipts
A quieter task tray, and nothing lost when you clear a row
The tray light now stays dark unless something actually needs you, and clearing a finished task no longer hides it from your full task history.
- · Clearing a finished task no longer hides it from your full task history. The task itself always ran fine, but its record could get hard to find afterwards.
- · The tray light used to be on whenever the tray icon was, so it stopped telling you anything. Now it stays dark when you are caught up, pulses while something is running, and shows a count of what is waiting.
- · A backup we could not confirm no longer lights up red. The row already said Unconfirmed, and now the light agrees with it.
Pro costs less, the trial lasts longer, and the app gets out of your way
Pro is now $9 a month with tax included, the trial runs a full week instead of 48 hours, and subscription messages moved out of the main view.
- · Pro is now $9 a month, $90 a year, or $24 for a 90 day Season Pass. Tax is included, so the number you see is the number you pay.
- · The Pro trial is a full 7 days instead of 48 hours. A weekend is not enough time to get friends onto a server and actually play.
- · Subscription messages moved out of the main view and into your account menu, so they stop pushing the app down.
See everything your server world is doing
The Operations update: live progress and durable history for backups, restores and imports, safe cancel everywhere, and instant server hover cards.
- · New Operations tray: everything SpawnBox is working on - backups, restores, imports, diagnostic reports - lives in one place, with progress you can watch and history that survives closing the app.
- · While you were away: if something finished or failed while you were off playing, you come back to a grouped summary and a badge, so results never silently vanish.
- · Failed operations are actionable: every failure row offers Retry when it is safe to offer, and a Get Help button that pre-fills a diagnostic report aimed at exactly what went wrong.
You're in control of what SpawnBox learns
This one is about trust: Account-Linked Analytics is now strictly opt-in, off by default, and our privacy policy spells out exactly what we measure.
- · Account-Linked Analytics is now strictly opt-in. It is off by default, and if it was ever on, this update turns it off, so tying any usage data to your account only ever happens because you chose it.
- · We refreshed our privacy policy to say, in plain language, exactly what we measure, why, and how you stay in control, including how we look at the upgrade flow in aggregate.
Answers inside the app, newer Minecraft versions, and steadier screens
Diagnostic answers now come back inside SpawnBox, the player list and Console recover on their own after a blip, plus new Minecraft versions and safer backups.
- · When you send a diagnostic report and we work out what is going on, the answer now comes back to you right inside SpawnBox, as a notification and a card with the fix, so you are not left watching Discord or email for a reply. It reaches you even if you are not signed in.
- · Under some circumstances (after you minimize the window, a connection blip, or a brief server hiccup) the player list could get stuck or go stale. Now it notices and catches itself back up within a few seconds, so the list matches who is really on.
- · Catching the Console and Activity feed up on what you missed is now rebuilt to be dependable. It usually caught up fine before, but could occasionally be left behind on a reopen or reconnect until you nudged it; now it reliably reloads everything that happened while you were away.
A clearer console, modded-server tracking, and honest error messages
Full activity tracking on Forge and NeoForge, a more readable console, clear errors when something fails, and your pick of update channel.
- · Forge and NeoForge servers now get full activity tracking. Player joins and leaves, sessions, deaths, and chat show up in your Activity feed and Connected Players view - powered by SpawnBox's Telemetry Datapack - where before they came up empty on those server types.
- · The Console is readable again. Server events are color-coded, the green 'Done!' startup line stays green instead of fading to grey, and a server's earlier history now shows the same rich formatting as its live output.
- · More of your server's log is recognized. Chat messages and additional kinds of player deaths are now formatted properly instead of blending into the plain text, and the constant behind-the-scenes admin-connection chatter is dimmed so it stays available for troubleshooting without cluttering your Activity feed.
Clearer Pro previews and safer server recovery
SpawnBox 1.1.3 previews locked Pro features instead of just a lock, saves your worlds before any network repair, and fixes two screens that could dead-end.
- · When a Pro feature is locked on your plan, SpawnBox now shows a full, plain-language preview of what it actually does - the problem it solves and exactly what you'd get - right where the feature lives, instead of a bare lock. It's easy to see what each plan includes before you decide.
- · Fixed two spots that could quietly dead-end. The Base Network view in the player investigation tools was always coming up empty because it never loaded its data - it now shows the bases SpawnBox has detected. And the Discord setup no longer lets you walk all the way through only to hit a wall at the last step.
- · When SpawnBox repairs a broken network setup, it now saves and cleanly stops your running worlds first, then brings them right back - so a behind-the-scenes recovery can never interrupt a world mid-save. Your progress is protected even when SpawnBox is fixing something for you.
Your server address now always tells the truth
SpawnBox 1.1.2 makes your shareable server address accurate in every situation, fixes a stuck setup popup, and protects your own port-forwarding rules.
- · The Easy Address panel now tells you exactly what's going on in every situation - no more endless spinner when you're signed out, and when an address belongs to a different account you get a clear explanation with both ways forward: sign in with the account that owns it, or pick a different address.
- · If a Pro subscription ends, your custom server address now winds down gracefully: it stays live while your server is running (never cutting off friends mid-session), pauses at the next server stop, and is held for you for 90 days - re-subscribe and it comes back automatically the next time your server starts.
- · Fixed the 'Fixing Background Services' popup that could get stuck at 'Starting...' even after everything was already up and running. It now closes the moment the background service is actually connected.
Clearer subscription status and a cleaner uninstall
SpawnBox 1.1.1 adds a friendly countdown to your next renewal so the date never sneaks up on you, and makes uninstalling tidy - no leftover network settings.
- · Your account now shows a gentle countdown when your subscription is within two weeks of renewing, so the renewal date never catches you off guard.
- · Uninstalling SpawnBox now cleans up fully after itself - it no longer leaves behind a network port-forwarding rule that could tie up a port the next time you set up a server.
- · Plus a few smaller reliability and polish fixes under the hood.
PvP fight tracking and newer Minecraft support
SpawnBox 1.1.0 adds live PvP fight tracking, support for the newest Minecraft versions, and a batch of crash and reliability fixes.
- · See your players' PvP fights as they happen - who fought who, who came out on top, and who threw the first hit - right in the live activity timeline.
- · SpawnBox now catches combat-logging: when a player disconnects mid-fight to dodge a death, the record still reflects what really happened.
- · Run the newest Minecraft - SpawnBox's combat and PvP tracking now works on Minecraft 1.21.5 and the 26.x versions, and the update reaches servers you already have.
SpawnBox 1.0 - out of preview, with accounts and Pro now open
Our first stable release. SpawnBox is free to run on your own PC. Optionally add an account for a free Pro trial and Pro plans, now open.
- · SpawnBox is out of preview - our first stable 1.0 release. It's free to run on your own PC, and now you can optionally go Pro: an auto-renewing monthly or annual plan, or a one-time Season Pass that lasts 90 days with nothing to cancel.
- · Getting an account is one passwordless tap - the same Sign in button creates your account or signs you back in, and a quick menu shows what an account adds. Your first sign-in starts a free 48-hour Pro trial so you can try everything before you decide. If a trial doesn't show up for you, let us know.
- · There's now a single Account area that opens your secure web portal, where your plan, billing, sign-in details, and account deletion all live in one place. It opens straight from the app without asking you to sign in again.
